Statement: Justice Demands We Abolish ICE

From the UWF Executive Committee (1/27/2026):

For months we have been facing a billionaire-backed campaign of racist terror that is occupying, kidnapping, and brutalizing Black, Brown, and immigrant neighbors across the country. This state-sanctioned violence extends to those who refuse to stand idly by while the foot soldiers of white supremacy attack our cities.

We send our love and our unwavering solidarity to Minneapolis, New Orleans, Maine, Los Angeles, Memphis, Washington DC, and every community that is organizing to get ICE off their streets. This moment demands action–we stand with every neighbor, every rapid responder, and every worker who is choosing courage. We join together with hundreds of thousands of people who are taking collective action.

We mourn and demand justice for Renee Good and Alex Pretti, who were murdered by ICE in Minneapolis while looking out for their neighbors. We mourn and demand justice for our sibling Keith Porter, who was murdered by ICE in Los Angeles while celebrating New Years Eve. We mourn and demand justice for our neighbor Silverio Villegas González in Franklin Park, who was murdered by ICE last September after he dropped his children off at school.

Justice demands we abolish ICE. Justice demands an end to the federal occupation of our Black, Brown, and immigrant communities. Our safety is intertwined, and it will take all of us, moving in solidarity across shared struggles, to build the future we deserve. Join us at the VA (820 S Damen) today, January 27th at 12pm as we demand ICE OUT NOW and remember ICU nurse and AFGE member Alex Pretti.
